Mission:

The Lake of the Woods Prevention Coalition is dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of individuals of all ages in our community by encouraging collaboration and partnership. Our mission is to promote mental, physical, and emotional wellness while supporting a lifestyle free from substance misuse.

Vision Statement:

A community where people of all ages have the knowledge, skills, and support to live healthy, well, and free from substance misuse.

Goals:

  • Unite community strengths and expertise to encourage conversation and dispel myths
  • Recognize positive choices made by youth and community members
  • Foster a culture of health and wellness throughout Lake of the Woods County

How we got here:

The Lake of the Woods Prevention Coalition was founded in 2011 with a shared belief that prevention works best when a whole community is involved. We bring together voices from across Lake of the Woods County — schools, healthcare, law enforcement, local government, youth, parents, businesses, and more — to support people of all ages and strengthen our community.

We operate using the Communities That Care (CTC) framework, an evidence-based approach that uses local data to identify risk factors and match them with proven prevention strategies. Our work is funded by the Minnesota Department of Health.

Our Partners:

CHI LakeWood Health | Lake of the Woods School District | Minnesota Department of Health | Lake of the Woods Treatment Court | Lake of the Woods Sheriff’s Office | Lake of the Woods County Social Services
